Qualifying Examination I
This page is a source of information for physicians who intend to obtain
the qualification of Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC)
and thus inscription in the Canadian Medical Register. Although the information
in this page is factual at the time of preparation, changes may occur
from time to time without notice. This page is valid for the Qualifying
Examination Part I in 2005 only. Any changes will be posted on the MCC
Website.
In Canada, each provincial and territorial government is responsible
for physicians to practice medicine within its boundaries. The provincial
and territorial governments have mandated this responsibility to medical
regulatory authorities. The medical regulatory authorities are listed
as Appendix B under the QE
Part I Information Pamphlet of this site and may be called licensing
authority, college of physicians and surgeons, or medical board.
Examination Information
Please be aware that the MCCQE Part I will be administered by computer.
The MCC will make every effort to ensure a smooth and orderly test administration.
However, in extraordinary circumstances beyond the control of the Medical
Council, such as a power outage, computer malfunction or network difficulty,
it may occasionally be necessary to reschedule candidates. While this
should not happen often, candidates need to be prepared for this possibility.
Those traveling to Canada on a travel visa for the sole purpose of sitting
this examination should plan accordingly. Any candidate experiencing difficulty
during the administration of the examination should ask the examination
proctor for assistance.
